The Community Foundation Works for Youth Development

The future belongs to the youth. We, the team of the Dubno Community Foundation “Dobrobut,” firmly believe in this, and we are pleased to announce the launch of the pilot program Civic Embers. This is an innovative initiative aimed at developing youth leadership and civic engagement in Ukraine and the United States. The 10-week program will provide young people with the knowledge and skills to become active and informed citizens.

Under the leadership of Geoffrey Glenn, with the support of Dr. Abigail Dym (University of Pennsylvania) and Dr. Sarah Solhey (University of Colorado, Boulder), as well as assistance from graduate student Brock Mace, an intensive educational program is planned. It will combine offline and online components, focusing on democratization, civic engagement, and media literacy. The program duration is February–May 2025.

The Civic Embers pilot program is part of the Peace Corps Program and demonstrates the commitment of the Peace Corps and the Dobrobut Community Foundation to support youth education and leadership in Ukraine. The development of the pilot program was made possible thanks to a grant from the National Network for Local Philanthropy Development. The network organization, which supports community foundations, approved two micro-grants of 70,000 UAH each. With the second grant, we purchased two laptops and a tablet for our organization’s work.

Stay tuned for announcements, as we continue working to expand opportunities for our young generation – the future community leaders.
