Light in the Dark, “Sensory” Room, and Horse Camps – Summary of Completed Projects

The “Active Citizen School” project, a two-day training intensive, took place for the second time this year. Active members of the Dubno community had the opportunity to submit a project application for the implementation of a social idea with the support of our grant provider, the Global Fund for Community Foundations. After a project competition reviewed and evaluated by a commission, three projects were selected for implementation, which were approved by the Dubno Community Foundation “Dobrobut”.

As a result, day horse camps were organized for children from socially vulnerable categories and the Public Society of Disabled Persons from Childhood “Dobrochyn”. During these camps, children interacted with horses, implemented creative ideas, and learned the basics of horseback riding. Since representatives of the NGO “Centaur UA” conducted the camps at a shelter for horses evacuated from combat zones in the village of Sudobychi, they first purchased necessary building materials and carried out repair work. Psychological support was provided by staff from the Inclusive Resource Center of the Dubno City Council.

And the center was mentioned for a reason. It now houses a “sensory room” for children with special educational needs who are not covered by formal education or are in a home-schooling format.
