(Not) Enough, (Not) Liked – Results of the Sociological Survey in Dubno Announced

What do young people want or need? To find out, you have to ask them directly. The needs of Dubno’s youth were examined in a survey organized by the Dubno Community Foundation “Dobrobut.” Conducted in Dubno for the first time, the study aimed to identify key issues and the needs for youth engagement and activation in community development. Experts from the “Respublika” Institute and the “Active Community” initiative, Vitaliy and Oleksandra Hlizhynski, used focus group discussions among school students, university students, young families, activists, and volunteers. The survey was conducted with financial support from the Global Fund for Community Foundations.

“Conducting a sociological survey was one of the goals of the grant project that the Dubno Community Foundation is implementing this year. This work is very important as it allows us to identify the main problems that concern community residents in a specific area. The key themes of our study were youth policy and activity, as well as the development of volunteer and civic initiatives. These areas are crucial for the effective and successful development of the community, especially considering the current situation in the country and the world,” said Mykola Mandziuk, head of the Dubno Community Foundation “Dobrobut.” “I believe the survey results will be useful both for city residents and for our organization, which works on comprehensive community development by engaging efforts from government representatives, businesses, and active citizens. Thanks to this research, we will better understand where we, as a civil society organization, should focus our efforts and how to engage our partners, donors, and stakeholders.”

And so, in honor of International Youth Day, celebrated worldwide on August 12, we present the key findings of the survey.

A reminder that about 40 people of various ages, fields of activity, and social statuses participated in the study. They shared their perspectives, spoke about the positives and negatives in the city, and envisioned Dubno’s future.
