Charitable Foundations Not Only Raise Funds but Also Focus on Institutional Development

What is strategy? How does it differ from vision and mission? These and other questions were explored by about 20 Dubno residents on February 15 and 16. During these days, a seminar-training took place within the walls of Dubno Castle, where participants developed the strategic plan for the Dobrobut Dubno Community Foundation.

The charitable organization was founded last fall, and it has already won two grants. This event was held as part of an organizational development grant with the support of ISAR “Ednannia” and financial backing from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

The training was conducted by speaker Ruslan Kraplych, who specializes in expert guidance and consulting for civil society organizations in the city and region. In previous years, the mentor taught Dubno residents the basics of fundraising, project management, and advocacy. This time, the seminar brought together people of different ages, professions, and backgrounds, as it was important to hear their perspectives on the city’s issues and define the foundation’s priorities.

Participants identified the key advantages and opportunities for the community foundation, as well as its weaknesses and potential threats. They also discussed the main principles for ensuring the financial stability of the organization, the implementation of which will support the fulfillment of the foundation’s statutory goals and objectives.

To transform the insights gained into a practical and effective working document, significant effort must be put into their application. The team at the Dobrobut Dubno Community Foundation faces a great deal of work ahead, but this is the way to develop the city.
